Adopt a Dog

Newly adoptable dogs get posted on Facebook first, then they are added here as we have time. Our Facebook is updated more often because we can do that with our phone as we go. Just put the dog's name on the application that you are interested in or "match me" and put in what you are looking for in a dog. Please watch for an email response to your application with the pet's name and BHR or Broken Hearts Rescue in the subject box. We are all volunteers with full-time jobs and families, so we do the best we can.

Please be aware that many have had a rough start in life and our goal is to get them into the right home for them. Some may require a very specific home due to fears, experience requirements, or medical needs. A fully completed application is required for all dogs, as well as a home visit, and a meet and greet. All people and dogs living in the home must be at the meet and greet.

Adoption Fees for Dogs - $145 - $300 (depends on their medical/training cost)

*100% of adoption fees go to medical and supplies for the dog & cats in rescue.*

If you have any questions please let us know.

THANK YOU for your interest in saving lives through adoption!

Siri New 1_edited.jpg

Siri

Name: Siri

Age: 4 Years

Breed: Great Dane

Medical: Spayed, Vaccinated, Wormed, Gastropexy, Double Cherry Eye

Needs: Another large breed (but smaller than her) non-dominant, playful canine best friend, special consideration for her food allergies.

Siri is a delightful 4-year-old grey Great Dane with a heart as big as her paws. This majestic girl is not just about her impressive size but also about her even more impressive personality. Siri is the ultimate people-lover, always ready with a wagging tail and a joyful disposition for anyone who crosses her path.

Her favorite activities include playing tug-of-war, playing dress-up, and fetching, and she is particularly fond of romping around with her canine companions. Whether it’s a game of chase in the backyard or a playful tug session, Siri’s enthusiasm is boundless. She’s also an adventurous spirit who thrives on new experiences and car rides, making her an ideal companion for those who enjoy exploring the world together.

She is 1000% goofy girl. Though she sounds tough with her deep bark, she is more likely to tuck tail and hide behind you if something is scary. In fact, her recent trip to the vet had her sitting on her foster mom's lap while getting her vaccines. Water from a hose is so fun, until the hose turns on her, then it's a mad dash to run away, tripping over her feet as she goes.

Siri is a little bit of a drama queen if she wants to do something, like go for a walk and you tell her no. Like every child, she tends to voice her opinion on why life is not fair. I swear she knows what you are saying, and you can almost understand her side of the argument.

Siri has received professional training and is eager to continue her education with a family that can keep up with her active and inquisitive nature. She’s been spayed and had a gastropexy done, ensuring her health and well-being as she continues to enjoy her active lifestyle. While she’s naturally curious about cats and likes to investigate them, she has shown no inclination to chase the ones in her current foster home, proving that she can coexist peacefully with feline friends given the right environment.

If you’re looking for a gentle giant who will bring joy, playfulness, and a touch of adventure into your life, Siri might just be the perfect addition to your family. She’s ready to share her love and loyalty with a new family who appreciates her unique charm and can provide the loving guidance she thrives on. Her adoption fee is $300 to help cover her medical and training.

Bailey

Name: Bailey

Age: Almost 4 Years

Breed: Poodle

Medical: Spayed, Vaccinated, Wormed

Needs: Grooming every 6-8 weeks, a family willing to continue her training

Bailey is an almost 4-year-old Poodle with a heart full of love and a sharp mind eager to learn. Life hasn’t always been smooth for Bailey—being returned has left her feeling unsettled, so we are committed to finding her the perfect forever home where she will never feel that heartbreak again. We will be picky. Please do not apply if you can't meet all of her needs.

Bailey needs a patient and devoted family who can dedicate the first few days to bonding with her without leaving her side. She has some separation anxiety and requires time to trust that her people will always come back for her. We will provide tools and guidance to help her adjust successfully.

This clever girl thrives in a home where she can be actively engaged and continue her training. She loves to learn and feels a sense of purpose when working on new skills. Whether it’s going to work with her family or spending most of her time by their side, Bailey needs someone who can provide her with companionship and mental stimulation. We will ask for your plan to keep up her training/ mental stimulation.

Bailey is selective about her canine and feline friends. She can coexist with a dog that respects her space but doesn’t appreciate overly enthusiastic playmates. She does guard her food and kennel from other pets, but she is perfectly fine sharing with her people. Her loyalty to her humans is unmatched.

Bailey is food-motivated and, like any smart pup, can’t resist the temptation of a counter if left unsupervised—but she responds well to gentle correction. Doesn't mean she won't try again later, just that she's listening now.

Bailey’s ideal home is one that understands her quirks, celebrates her intelligence, and is ready to invest in her happiness. If you’re looking for a loving, devoted companion and are willing to put in the time to build a bond that will last a lifetime, Bailey might just be the one for you.

Shoni

Name: Shoni

Age: Approx. 4-5 Years

Breed: Chi mix

Medical: Spayed, Vaccinated, Wormed

Needs: Quiet home with a patient family and a safe space.

**Meet Shoni: A Little Warrior in Need of a Loving Home**

Shoni is a brave little dog with a heart full of potential. Rescued from a harrowing hoarding situation that involved 70 dogs, she is one of the fortunate six who escaped the dire conditions of being dumped in cornfields and deserts. While her past has left her wary of the world, Shoni's spirit remains unbroken.

Having experienced trauma, Shoni is still learning to trust. Her journey from a chaotic environment to being dumped in a cornfield then trapped and moved to the safety of her foster home has been challenging, and she needs a patient, understanding family to help her heal. While she thrives in the company of other dogs, Shoni feels anxious when outside alone, a testament to her past experiences.

Shoni’s ideal home would be one without young children, though she is okay with respectful teens, and a quiet home. She craves a safe, secure environment where she can take her time to adjust. With love and compassion, Shoni is ready to open her heart, but it may take a little while for her to feel completely comfortable.

This little cuddlebug loves being held by her foster mom and has so much love to give once she feels safe. If you believe you can be the hero Shoni needs, she is waiting for you to show her that the world can be a kind place. Together, you can embark on a beautiful journey of trust and love. Are you ready to be Shoni's forever family?

Hida

Name: Hida

Age: Approx. 5-6 Years

Breed: Chi mix

Medical: Spayed, Vaccinated, Wormed

Needs: Quiet home, another similar sized grounded dog. No kids under 13 & no big dogs.

**Meet Hida: A Gentle Soul in Search of a Loving Home**

Hida is a small, shy dog with a heart full of love waiting to bloom. Rescued from a challenging hoarding situation involving 70 dogs, Hida has faced more than her share of hardships. When she arrived at the rescue, she was emaciated and heavily pregnant. After giving birth to three puppies—one naturally, one with assistance, and the last via c-section—

Hida displayed incredible strength despite her frail condition. Tragically, she lost one of her precious pups at just ten days old, a reminder of the struggles she has endured.

Hida is a sweet girl who loves to be held, but her past has made her cautious. She needs a patient and understanding family who can help her learn to trust again. While she craves companionship, she may take her time to warm up to new people. Hida is best suited for a home with no children under 13 and no large dogs, as she thrives in a calm and quiet environment.

This little lady finds comfort in napping on the couch, but when things get too overwhelming, she retreats to her kennel where she feels safe. Hida will need a dedicated family that can provide her with a secure space to relax and the time to adjust to her new life.

If you have a quiet home and a heart full of patience, Hida could be the perfect companion for you. Together, you can create a bond built on trust and love, giving her the happy ending she truly deserves.

Cupcake 1_edited.jpg

Cupcake

**Meet Cupcake: Your Sweet Senior Companion**

Cupcake is the first of our Chi mixes from the hoarding situation that is ready for adoption. She qualifies for our seniors for seniors program.

Cupcake is an adorable senior Chihuahua mix, ready for her forever home after being rescued from a challenging situation. Despite her shyness, this little lady has a heart full of love to give. Cupcake adores snuggling into fluffy blankets next to her favorite person, finding comfort and warmth in their presence.

This gentle soul needs a little extra time to bond, but once she does, she will eagerly seek out pets and affection. Cupcake will use a potty pad when outside isn't an option, she will graciously alert you when she needs to go out, the doggy door makes her a bit nervous so she does not use it.

Having come from a home where she wasn't held often, Cupcake is still learning to feel comfortable in arms. With patience and love, she’s making strides in this area and is beginning to appreciate being held. She thrives in a home where her people can be around most of the time, as she can throw a tantrum if left in a crate—often expressing her feelings by flipping her bed and dishes. However, she does well left uncrated when she feels safe.

Cupcake has recently undergone dental surgery, resulting in the removal of all her teeth due to infection, but don't let that fool you; she eats just fine and continues to live life to the fullest. Ideally, she would thrive in a home without small children, but she gets along well with other dogs and even cats in her foster environment.

If you're looking for a sweet, snuggly companion who just needs a little time and understanding, Cupcake might just be the perfect match for you!

Copper

Name: Copper

Age: about 5 months

Breed: We were told a cowboy corgi

Medical: Completed- neutered, shots and wormed

Needs: quiet environment with patient family and another playful dog.

Introducing Copper, the adorable and reserved puppy! Copper may appear reserved at first, but once he trusts you, he will shower you with love and affection. He is a social butterfly when it comes to playing with other dogs and is perfectly fine with cats.

Copper is highly motivated by treats, making training sessions a breeze. He has a fondness for blankets and finds comfort in his crate, which serves as his safe haven. Playing with toys brings him immense joy and entertainment.

This sweet pup has been neutered and has received all his necessary puppy shots and worming treatments. Copper's journey to us began when his previous owners callously abandoned him in a store parking lot, as they were unable to sell him but did his siblings.

Thankfully, Animal Control rescued him and reached out to our rescue organization, where Copper found the love and care he truly deserved. Copper has made great strides in learning to trust but will need a quiet family willing to give him the time he needs to adjust to his new environment and family.

Copper would thrive in a home with another grounded and playful dog, as they can provide companionship and endless playtime. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion, Copper is eagerly waiting to become a part of your family.

Darcy 1.jpg

Darcy

Meet Darcy, a lovely Shih Tzu mix who is about a year old. Darcy may be a bit shy and reserved when first meeting people, but with a little time, she forms strong bonds fairly quickly. She came into rescue with four adorable pups and has been learning how to play ever since. She came to us very matted so we had to have her completely shaved to start over but her hair is coming in nicely.

Darcy thoroughly enjoys toys and often carries them back to her kennel. It seems she has developed a fondness for collecting toys, perhaps because she never had the chance to enjoy them before.

Darcy is a well-behaved dog with no issues of inappropriate chewing. However, she has a penchant for stealing her foster mom's shoes and socks, taking them back to her kennel. Don't worry, though - she hasn’t destroyed them! Darcy is doggy door, crate, and potty trained. While she will use a potty pad if necessary, she prefers to do her business outside, even in inclement weather, unlike many small dogs. Darcy will alert bark and nervous bark if uncomfortable in a situation but once she feels comfortable she quiets down.

Once Darcy forms a bond with you, her sweet, loving, and funny personality shines through. She adores giving and receiving kisses and loves being close to her person. When you come home, she may even stand on her hind legs to beg for attention or ask for a treat. Darcy is highly motivated by treats, which can be useful for training purposes.

While she enjoys sleeping in bed with you, Darcy is also comfortable sleeping in a kennel if needed. Kennels serve as her safe space, so it's important to provide that option for her. Additionally, Darcy needs a grounded dog companion. Although she may chase a cat if it runs, she has never shown any intention of hurting one.

Darcy is spayed, up to date on shots, and wormed. She would thrive in a quiet home environment with patient and understanding owners who can give her the time she needs to adapt to her new family and surroundings. Rest assured, the wait will be worth it, as Darcy is a special dog who will bring immense joy and love to her forever home.

Kevin is a shy but lovable dog who lights up with joy when he feels comfortable. He may take some time to warm up to new people, but once he trusts you, he becomes wiggly and happy. Personal space is not something Kevin understands, as he loves to be in your lap and craves love and attention. Snuggling with his person is one of his favorite activities.

Kevin is an adventurous pup and will require a tall and secure fence, as he has a tendency to jump or climb to explore something exciting on the other side. He may also be a bit mischievous and counter surf from time to time.

In terms of training, Kevin is highly treat motivated, making it easier to teach him new tricks and commands. He is mostly potty trained, with occasional accidents, but he is willing to use a potty pad if one is available.

Kevin thrives when he has another grounded dog to play with, as he enjoys the company of his furry friends. Although he is interested in cats, he has not shown any signs of aggression towards them and usually just barks at them.

At bedtime, Kevin may whine or bark when crated until the lights go out. He is neutered and up to date on shots, ensuring his health and well-being.

Overall, Kevin is a Velcro dog who sticks close to his person, forming a strong bond and bringing endless joy and snuggles into their life.
